windows & mirrors
“Windows and Mirrors” is a collection of work that aims to reflect back a connection with my Southern Black existence. Inspired by the words of poet Lucille Clifton; “people need windows and mirrors. Mirrors so they can see themselves and windows so they can see each other” Through the use of portraiture, a contemporary iteration of African masking, and nostalgic ephemera, I strive to strengthen a never-ending dialogue between my younger and older self. The spiritual act of calling my younger self on 3-way.
